Good morning from the sunny, sweet onion city (my hometown)! First thing first, um...hello, hello blog I have not seen in two weeks. Longtime, no see. Every time I go two weeks in between posts (which I will explain), I feel like I am stepping into a deep, dark, oceanic abyss (Points to me for using a GRE vocab word!!!!). In other words, I feel left behind and a little out-of-the-know. Nevertheless, I am here, and I am ready to catch up.
Very good news on the academic front! I finished my last ever Spanish course in college last week (***cue the victory dance***). I capped off the summer with all A's, which is the result of crawling into a hermit shell last week to study for finals. I have a hefty three weeks between now and the beginning of fall semester, so I intend to make the most of my summer adventure...part 2.
As part of my summer adventure, I went swimming earlier this week and tanned along the way. I say...or type...'tanned' lightly. In actuality, I burned. The aches and chills kind of sunburn. I dread the impending peeling process, when, in fact, I will look very much like an onion. Ironically, the likelihood that I am even the slightest shade darker from my escapade is slim to none. So, who is the real winner in this all? That's right, the sun. Meanwhile, excuse me while I apply the next round of aloe and take naps to put myself out of misery.
Now that I am out of class for a bit, I am lost as to what to do with myself. This is both good and bad. Classwork keeps me busy, so when that is swiped away, I have no unearthly incentive to keep me focused on the next task at hand: Finishing this data for my research project. However, I am excusing my lack of work for this sunburn. Sunburn means excessive slowness...excessive slowness means little progress is made. I expect to be at a solid 85% functioning level by tomorrow, so maybe the groove is on the horizon.
Two weeks ago, I mentioned that my lipsticks from ColourPop arrived! The shades I bought happened to be on sale, so the colors I link will not reflect the price I paid. One of the shades I bought last week, Money Moves by the Matte Lux Lipstick was defunct when I bought it, which was sorely disappointing. As I opened the tube last week, with every ounce of excitement behind me, half the lipstick itself jumped out and I realized it had been broken upon arrival. There was lipstick all over my laptop, and I nearly screamed in horror...because...well, opening lipstick is supposed to be a glorious and classy moment. I mean, trumpets are supposed to sound and a light descending from the heavens is supposed to illuminate the lipstick. Yes, it is supposed to be a magical (albeit, dramatic...) moment. It was none of the above. Anyway, I decided to keep it instead of returning it (All other products were great and in tip-top condition!). It is a beautiful brick color, and without a doubt, the prettiest red that I have ever owned. I also bought C'mon Sis and Brink. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to wear these shades yet. The final lipstick I bought was a blotted lipstick. I wanted something light and subtle that was not an "Oh, you are wearing lipstick." color. Hence, I tried a blotted lipstick. One word: Obsessed. I bought the Drip shade, and after initially, feeling like it was noticeable, it has begun to blend right in with my natural lip color. This makes me feel more apt to wear it in town when I am out and about, without a care in the world for opinion.
I have no idea what I am doing this weekend (I am rooting for some ice cream and antique shopping), but I am willing to bet that it will not involve the sun in any capacity. Hope you have a nice one! Also, daily reminder to: Buy the dang dress or shoes or jeans or top, etc., etc., etc.! Treat yo'self!
