I'm not lying when I say I dined like a queen over Thanksgiving Break. While the outer me is disappointed, the inner me defends itself. After all, I can't cook massive home meals for one. Plus, I'm not a fan of leftover food. Nevertheless, I enjoyed treating myself, with food and sleep (!!!), and I am accepting that it was worth it.
I'm pinching myself that next week is the last week before winter break!!! I keep asking myself where time has gone, but then I remember that routines tend to distort time. Essentially, if you aren't living in the moment, you are wasting time. I haven't quite decided what I intend to do over winter break. I definitely want to read! I also want to drink hot chocolate...I'd like to be a little more festive, listen to old Christmas classics, and watch my favorite Christmas movies without a care in the world.
Perhaps a better characterization of next week: finals' week. Much of this weekend will be spent writing papers to be submitted next week. It will also be about actual exams, so this weekend will include studying for those too. It's honestly relieving to know the end of the semester has arrived, and relaxation is within reach.
Honestly, I think the greatest gift for Christmas would be a month of mindful relaxation.
